    LOL…my mobile …
    LOL…my mobile phone takes horrible pictures…thats why I got a D40

6 mega pixels is excellent resolution considering that the first Digital Cameras were something like 1 mega pixel

I believe that 6 mega pixels makes excellent 10 X 8 enlargements and even larger

I got a 70-300mm zooms lens recently and I was taking a photo of my City Hall…but it had the added effect of all these pretty ladies fixing their hair and showing their best sides etc

Yes..D40 does have that little bit of magic !

    I love my D40 even …
    I love my D40 even though I have a D90.
There is just something about the pictures it produces. I was out shooting with it last week and some IDIOT said to me when I told him it was only 6 Megapixels “That only has 6 megapixel my mobile phone has 12MP”. His comment was not even worthy of a reply. He was under some strange illusion that his MOBILE PHONE! could take better pictures than my Nikon D40. I walked away and shook my head.

D40 is an excellent camera…and I won’t need another camera for some time yet…

It has indeed a certain magic about it…

Soon the spec on cameras like the D3X will be “Entry mode” cameras. I still wont part with my old D40. There is just some magic about it.

    Yes..I agree too… …
    Yes..I agree too…

Digital electronics are steadily improving and DSLRs will easily surpass the quality of old 35mm…

If they have not already surpassed them…

    35mm was yesterday …
35mm was yesterday mate. Honestly I used to hate digital cameras when they first went on the market. Now they are BETTER than 35mm. I chucked my 35mm Camera in the bin. I own a D40 and if I want the picture to be special I take my D90 with me. When digital cameras first came out yes they were poor, Now they are BETTER than 35mm Cameras. I predict that in 10 Years time the “Spec” on cameras like the Nikon D3X will be the “Entry model” cameras. They will keep getting better and better. You watch.

    You don’t need the …
You don’t need the D60. If you’re going to upgrade from the D40 (which is apparently a camera that can outperform some of the higher ranking models) then go for the D90.

Can anybody tell me if it’s safe to use a digital camera in a high humidity atmosphere such as a hot house, or other tropical habitat – real or simulated.
    Much appreciated

    you can’t see the …
you can’t see the difference between good photos of the D40(x) or the D60. It depents on the taker of the photos. But the D60 has some new stuff like sensorcleaning, more Mp, 3fps etc.

    It’s really not …
It’s really not worth upgrading to the D60 from the D40.

You’d be better off holding off and getting a D80, D90 or better.
