It has no right to be so damned good! Shooting (raw) at 12800 on my canon the noise is terrible. A bit of noise reduction in Digital Photo Professional clears away a fair bit but leaves the image very soft and not much use for anything other than personal use.

lol yeah the D3 is bad enough… at 14-bit compressed NEF i’m getting like 400 frames per 8gb card. Fantastic camera though…

I was shooting at 25600 earlier today… crazy how good it is. I mean it is very noisy but acceptable in many cases(example: news paper publish) seems more like equivilant 6400 ISO on any other camera lol.

14-24mm f2.8 and it’s almost twice the price of the D90 lol. and also… it wouldn’t really be worth getting for the D90 because it’s a full frame lens… The D90 isn’t a full frame camera… you’d be missing out on the full potential of the lens. However the D90 is fantastic and well done for buying it! Look for wide angle DX lenses for it though.

Even though I’m not …
Even though I’m not a professional and own a D90 with a number of lenses I’d still rather have a D3 than a D3x even disregarding price. From everything I’ve seen the D3’s iso capabilities are unbelievable and it’s as though most people have been tricked into forgetting how big 12mp actually is. If you need billboard size files just get a medium format as you are probably working for a studio anyway.

True, I’d say 12mp …
True, I’d say 12mp is really as much as you’ll ever need realistically, unless you’re shooting for billboards etc.., I think I’ll keep the 50D for the sports and wildlife, but get the 5D ii for portraits and landscape… 7D would be nice though, but justifying the cost is pretty difficult, when isnt a massivly difference from the 50D and I have an HD video camera already so the 7D’s video isn’t for me.
