The pictures I most often take are nature shots, distance, and landscape. I less often, but still do take the average birthday pictures and such. I would like a camera that has the best image quality possible (my 5.1 samsung BLOWS), but I dont want the million dollar camera with the 6 ft lens.
For nature shots you will eventually need that six foot long lens (not really, but pretty long)
The D60 is a great camera and the 18-55 mm VR lens is a good one for everything but the nature and landscape shots …. for the nature you will need at least a 200 mm lens and for landscapes the 12-24 mm is the best for that. You will just have to take your time and buy the lens you really want first and save your pennies for the next ones on your list.
The Nikon D60 will be perfect.
