    @MrShaolinStyle …
    @MrShaolinStyle good luck finding a camera cheap enough then, sorry if my advice wasn’t good enough :)
    A sony a200 is the cheapest possible, but bear in mind that like the a200 most <$500 cameras dont contain live view (so you can only see what you are taking through the viewfinder)
    also bear in mind that for the BEST results with slr’s, you are going to need different lenses (IE macro, telephoto) which start at around $175
    sorry for the bad advice in the first place ;)

    Nothings …
    Nothings complicated to use if you take the time to familiarize yourself with it, and most people do have these cameras nowadays, and they use it for family mostly, like i said i want to take family, events, and OTHER things when i can. anyone else got some better advice…

    @MrShaolinStyle slr …
    @MrShaolinStyle slr cameras start at around $550 and if you’re just wanting to get some family/event shots, then most people wouldn’t recommend getting an slr, they can be complicated to use, so you’re probably better off getting a superzoom camera, as you won’t have to fork out on expensive lenses, and you will get a VERY big zoom range for a smaller price.
    I recommend that you research into what you want to buy before splashing out 500 bucks :)

    @kaibar25
    If I’m not mistaken, the a900 is the first Sony DSLR that is completely made by Sony.

    They used to use Minolta designs, but this one is completely the product of Sony’s own R&D.

    The viewfinder on this this is amazing. That hump there on top is pure optical clarity.

    This is made by …
    This is made by Minolta for Sony. I must say this camera is not bad. This does not need to compete with Canon Or Nikon, its the person behind the viewfinder who should compete, i.e your creativity as such. Even if you have the “Top of the line DSLR”, if you shoot like what`s the point hehehe!

    but there are just …
    but there are just few FF lenses for alfa900.. thats why I said that this camera needs more lenses to be real canonkiller..

    Sony has many minolta designs, but current lineup are expensive Zeiss16-35/2.8 great Zeiss 24-70/2.8, then great Minolta designed sony 70-200/2.8… OK.. cool. But then older min/sony 24-105 3.5-4.5, which has nice walk-around range, but its just cheap lens not comparable with ZA lenses quality needed for hi-resolution FF sensor :o / + none wide FF zoom like 12-24

    Dude take a chill …
    Dude take a chill pill. That is the reason why there is a cheap Sony 16-105 for crops be in the 24+ range and then for FF we got different lens. BTW a900 can use crop lens but I have none :p All Minolta or CZ.
    You are right about the lens for my Sanyo but you keep looking at everything with a biased one area opinion.
    DoF is my friend, I shoot all my portraits in manual focus using widest aperture.
    I leave this thread alone now and let reads do their research. Cheers and happy shooting!

    + Sony 16-105 is nice lens BUT YOU CANNOT USE IT ON FULL FRAME CAMERA with full coverage. It only covers 1.5x crop sensor in alfa100/200/300/350/700.. EH!

    F1/.8 lens on your sanyo cannot do as shallow depth of field as APSC dslr or more.. FF DSLR. Learn about depth of field and aperture pls.

    Yo mate are you …
    Yo mate are you trying to start a flame war on something you dont own or know about?

    YOU should read comments. I said Consumer dSLR and mentione dthe a300/350 with Live-View but lacks video which I stated I hope it will be in the net generation.
    My Sanyo is a optical F/1.8 lens and the video quality is better.
    Sony 16-105mm > Minolta 24-105mm and if you say CZ the cost goes up.

    Its reaction for your advice to get myself consumer aging A300/350.. I don’t care about those plastic xxx.. omg!

    And they removed onboard flash because of big pentaprism in relatively small FF body. There was no place for integrated flash tall enough to overshoot big FF lens.

    Professionals DO use onboard flash, if they have one. You can use it as a trigger for other flashes even at big distance, where you need radio junk otherwise. There were may film profi cameras with on-board flash.

    try to READ it few …
    try to READ it few times more, then think about it and then write comment..

    btw. your sanyo will never have 50/1.4 lens with its depth of field. Borrow eos5DII and check its abilities. Live view is a must in digital era, you can have OVF as big as nothing, thats cool, but you cannot put your head on camera’s viewfinder always..

    you cannot buy new minolta 24-105, thats why Im writing about “alpha needs more zeiss lenses”. 24-70 is great, but different lens.
