Consider that most cameras from the 60's are still in perfect working order today. I have cameras from the 60's that still shoot just well as the day they rolled off the end of the production line, and most beat my DSLR in terms of image quality and resolution. In fact I have cameras from the 30's that are in perfect working order and will be for many decades to come. Compare that to today's modern cameras, packed with electronics and made from mostly plastic. Will they still be working in 50 years time?. Fat chance.

Back then cameras were built to last a lifetime, not just a few years.

The only difference is that cameras from the 60s had something to take pictures of besides profile pictures for facebook.
References :
Try to draw a parallel between the automobiles of the 60's to now.
More efficient, better handling, etc.
