Filed under: compare cameras

We take a look at the Canon EOS 550D (a.k.a. Reberl T2i), which on paper shares some specs with the camera we are comparing it with – the 7D. We compare a few images taken from both cameras to see how they compare.

For the full comparison, read our 550D vs 7D – which one to buy? article here: http://www.digitalrev.com/en/canon-eos-550d-vs-dot-7d-c-which-one-is-right-for-you-5244-article

    Is this camera …
    Is this camera available in the U.S. yet? Currently, I’m living overseas in Australia, and this camera costs AU$1700. It’s definitely cheaper to buy one from the U.S. and ship it over here. However, all the websites I go to (Amazon, Best Buy, B&H) says that it won’t ship out til April. But I really need this camera now! Does anyone know of any U.S. websites that has this camera available?

    what about the fact …
    what about the fact 7d has remote flash control or 100% viewfinder, or lcd viewfinder or 8fps etc… 550d doesnt really compare, but it is still a good camera for the money, a good photographer doesn’t really need all those extras, i can get just as good a picture from my 400d as my 7d.

    Exactly! It would …
    Exactly! It would be very appreciated if someone made 550D vs. 7D video comparisons with identical settings and lenses.

    For example, comparisons including low-light performance and the rolling shutter (jello) effect would be great!

    Since a lot of fuss is being made of the 550D video, it would have been nice to see at least one comparison of identical video scenes.

    @BerettaTM nope… …
    @BerettaTM nope… 500D/T1i is. Yes granted it does not have manual control like the 550D, but it does do HD video. HD video will becoem the norm on DSLR’s throught out the ranges.. but until it does camreas like the 550D I just dont consider to be entry level.
