How good are Canon Powershot digital cameras?

I seem to like Canon but I’m not sure if there are any other good brands for digital cameras. Just want some other opinions. Thanks!

Well, If you read the camera reviews posted in various sites and blogs, you will understand that Canon is the undisputed leader in digi cams. Sony and Panasonic Lumix are also good brands that offer simple ‘point and shoot cameras as well as complex SLRs. Personally, I prefer Sony to Canon just because of my brand loyalty. . Remember, Brand just doesn’t ,matter. The model and the functions you need matter. Some of the Canon models just didn’t click in the market although most of their models did.

For point-and-shoot cameras, aside from Canon, the good ones come from Sony and Lumix. Canon does it with experience, Sony overwhelms it with features while Lumix uses the Leica lens.

If you are thinking dSLRs, the best come from Canon, Nikon and Pentax, all because of their long history of making cameras. Canon makes better lenses, Nikon is more technologically advanced while Pentax is the most backward compatible with its own old lenses.

Now, if you want the best money can buy, nothing beats a Leica.

For Point and Shoot, I use only Canon models…very reliable, easy to understand settings, and great pictures at good prices for what you get.
