    Instead of …
Instead of comparing this to the 7D it would be far more useful to compare this to the T1i.

    I know most people …
I know most people here are interested in video, but one of the things I like about the 7D is the addition of remote TTL flash via the built-in flash. Does anyone know if the 550D has this?

    I have the SX1 and …
I have the SX1 and now a 7D. The sx1 is far more versatile and has much better reach. Not mention much lighter! They definitely for different types of video. The Sx1 is better for holidays for eg, but you making a short film or music video then the DSLR is the better option :)

    Its approx 12 …
Its approx 12 minutes or 4gb per HD video file. As soon as the camera reaches the limit you can hit record again, proving you have card space. The camera uses SD memory cards.

I doubt we will get …
I doubt we will get a 60D as something sitting between the 550D and the 7D. There is not much other than size/metal body and weather proofing that could set it apart from the 550D, but also the 7D. And if they added more options beyond that to the 60D, it could possible rivale the 7D and cannibalise its sales. All IMO of course.

    I can’t wait for …
I can’t wait for this! Woohoo! Thank God I didn’t buy the 7D as it is very expensive. With the price of 550D half as 7D, i can buy a decent lens to go along with what is bundled with this camera.

    Good camera. But I …
Good camera. But I still wish Canon would lauch an update to the 50D. ie a better stills camera without video. Maybe stay at 15mp but improve AF and picture quality. I still think Nikon outclasses Canon in results at this level.but I’m stuck with Canon because of all the money I’ve spent on good lenses and the 7D is a bit above what I can afford at the moment.

    For most this will …
For most this will sit on a shelf and collect dust. Hey at least they save a bunch of money by only spending a 1000 dollars for a paper weight.

    Yes your right …
Yes your right hands down 7d is better for the right user. If you only or mainly shoot video, then yes this is a cheaper option with the same video ability. If you are on a tight budget? Just stay out of the rain. However, I question your budget if you can afford a 1000 camera.

    You people are all …
You people are all so funny. Going back and forth on such a lame subject. This is a video posting sight….. of course you are going to have a ton of conflict with people on here. They shoot video.

    When we’ll get a …
When we’ll get a decent respect, Canon ?
I’m a 5D II owner and just a few things I asked: minim shutter speed for auto ISO, less megapixels, improved DR, a new AF and no fake ISO.
Thank You Canon because you are listening to us, buyers.

    I was just saying …
I was just saying you are getting alot of bang for your buck. This camera obviously wasn’t directed towards professionals, it’s an entry-level dslr. It appears to me that 7D owners are ripping on the t2i and boasting how much better their camera is to justify paying more than twice as much.

    Oh yeah, that’s …
Oh yeah, that’s right. You don’t know anything of what I’m talking about. Your just another one of those 15 year olds who look up technical aspects on DSLR’s to compare then cry and whine about something you don’t know about, or let alone something you don’t even need. Then you record videos of your friends and post them on Facebook thinking 1080p makes it look nicer on it.

    You are the perfect …
You are the perfect example of what I am trying to describe. 7D has magnesium alloy chasis with full weather-seals and professional features containing micro-AF adjustment as well as higher flash sync speeds, shutter speed, and other features deemed necessary for certain professional needs. But people aren’t looking at photo-taking aspects at all of the two, but rather video. My first impression of the t2i when people first talked about it was “Can the t2i take photos?” No really, can it?

    It’s actually …
It’s actually really good for the price. Same video features, same sensor, metering system for less than half the price. You are the one that seems upset. And video on a camera is huge, you can change lenses unlike a camcorder. IF you take pictures you know how important lenses are right? : )

    Pwnt. Those who own …
Pwnt. Those who own the 7D and are off at the 550D deserve it. You don’t just buy a DSLR and get off because your higher-end one is still better and has more features for taking photos. Ain’t that some shit, suck it up son these aren’t camcorders. They’re cameras, I would feel cheated if the 550D had 7D weathersealing and semi-pro features. It’s only video, overrated on DSLR now days. Oh wait…. That’s right, you 15 year olds bought a DSLR to shoot video only.
