Looking for a cam that has a decent battery life, good qual pics, and as much onboard mem as I can find. I’m at a loss in the camera market. Who makes the highest quality budget cams?
The Canon Powershot A590IS is a good one for that price. You may find it even a little cheaper. It has Image Stabilization, viewfinder and you can manually set the aperture and shutter speed.
You will need a memory card. The internal memory in any camera is very small. You will also need AA rechargeable batteries and a charger.
I like my Olympus FE340 that I got at $150. With 8 megapixel pictures and great settings (except I’m at a loss when it comes to adjusting shutter speed), it’s a great budget camera. However, its onboard memory is only about 24 pictures :/

I highly recommend the Canon SD1100 IS. Although it doesn’t have onboard camera memory (which is rather inefficient, actually), it’s the best bang-for-your-buck deal out there.
It has 8 megapixels (high image quality), image stabilization (correcting camera shake), and a sharp 2.5" LCD (for accurate picture review). The Lithium-Ion battery holds a long charge from my personal experience.
It’s ultracompact and comes in a variety of body colors. Best of all, it’s priced at $160 on Amazon right now! You can get a cheap 2 GB SD card at many places for about $10. Definitely worth checking out.
