Digital Camera Info in a Flash!
What is the best digital camera out there for the price?

I’m looking to buy a new digital camera, I previously owned a Sony, but I really didn’t like the way it worked. So I’m looking to buy a new one, possibly a Canon or Kodak? My price range is anywhere between 200-300$, and I want to buy the best I can for my money.

I’d recommend Canon SD790 IS. It is a 10 megapixel camera with 3x zoom and image stabilization.

    I purchased a SD880IS in Gold color.

Wow ! It is just a fantastic camera.

The camera is stylish, well built, compact, feature rich. The gold color metal front and brown plastic back look very nice.

Picture quality is excellent with bright, vivid, sharp photos.

The *NEW* DiGIC 4 processor does a fantastic job in processing your photos. This is Canon’s newest and latest processor and it does a rip roaring job. The camera has a very snappy start-up and time between pictures response.

    Great features:

10.0 Mega Pixels ( plenty of resolution )
    4X optical zoom
    28mm wide angle lens
Nice Big 3.0" PureColor II Display ( Looks bright and sharp, even outside )
    Face Detection Technology
Intelligent Contrast Correction ( NEW feature, really helps you to take better photos, VERY USEFUL )
Motion detection technology and servo AF ( a must for kids & pets )
Takes good movies with sound at 30 fps
ISO 1600 ( good low light shots without flash )
    Fantastic NEW DiGIC 4 Processor

Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

For the price it’s a no brainer. Canon A590 IS. 4X optical zoom, 8 megapixels, image stabilizer, aperture/shutter priority, quicker than most point & shoots at "next shot delay". $95-+ shipping on line at Amazon.com
If you paid $125 in store you are not overpaying for what you get.

If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:

    http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/panasonic_fz28.html

It just came out on November 4, 2008.

It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel digital camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HDTV quality video [Quicktime]; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] "Leica" lense for nature photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a "burst speed" of 13 fps; and sells new for $315 at amazon.com.

Here’s an actual handheld picture of the moon:

    Good luck!
