Digital Camera Info in a Flash!
What kind of digital SLR camera should I buy?

I have a Panasonic Lumix. It’s a great non-SLR (has a built in Leica lens with 12x zoom), but its missing some things. I want to shoot in raw mode, and also would like to get something with rear curtain flash, fill flash, interchangeable lenses, and stuff of that sort. In other words, I want a digital slr, but I don’t know what kind.

So, would be a good idea to buy a brand new low end model, like an Olympus E-500 or Nikon D-40, or a last generation top of the line, like an old Nikon D1-H, or Fujifilm S1?

I am learning photography, but want to someday be very good at it (as in possibly even professionally good). I don’t want a camera that will hold me and my creativity back.

Also, I don’t think megapixels are a huge deal, as long as I can get at least 1600-1200 photos. I mostly do online stuff, and would only usually go for a 5×7 if I printed anything out. This would be for learning purposes only.

Thank you beforehand for all the great answers. 8*)
I would also like a camera that can shoot up to 1600 ISO…

A Nikon D40 would be a great start for you. The price difference between the D40 and the D40x or some competing cameras could buy you lenses to expand the possibilities. Then, you can use those lenses in the future, if/when you upgrade camera bodies!

A D1-H is good, but digital cameras have evolved so much in the last few years.

Here’s one trusted viewpoint for you.

trying to find out how to buy canon cameras wholesale and set them up f/retail?

When buying the cameras wholesale they come to dealers unloaded/empty requiring special software /tools to load them.Or so Im told. This loading is done by dealers before they sell the cameras retail in their stores.Trying to find out more about this.

You were told wrong. They’re sold as they are received from the supplier. Stores don’t have the time to unpack & mess with every camera they sell. There’s nothing to load. All of that is done at the factory.

What is the best digital camera on the market, relating price to quality?

With + 5 mega pixels and +4 optical zoom. Underwater digital camera suggestions would be great. I’ve had my Kodak CD33 for almost 3 years now and am looking for another camera.

You should try the Pentax W30, which is a good waterproof camera for scuba diving and such activities.

What is the best nikon or canon digital SLR camera?

I need a good nikon or canon digital slr camera for a beginner that is easy to carry around.

Thanks,

The top rated entry level SLRs are Nikon’s D40, D60 and D80 and Canon’s Xti and XSi.

The best thing to do it trying them all in a store, you’ll know which one YOU like best. Personally I like them all, but leaning somewhat to the Canon XSi. But it’s a matter of what you like and what you want to spend on a camera.
The D40 is the least expensive and still a favorite for a starter DSLR.

Suggestions on the Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera?

I’m super interested in getting the new Nikon Coolpix s630 digital camera, and I was wondering how people like the Nikon brand in general and what you guys would rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 [5 being great quality]. Also, I’ve heard that it doesn’t have a flash feature? And that instead it has some sort of infared technology. If anyone has this camera or one of the closer models, could you tell me how you like it?

Thanks a lot, in advance =) !

I honestly would hold off for a few weeks. Nikon is about to release a new batch of Coolpix Digital Cameras. I think the date is Feb 3, 2010.

I’m a Nikon shooter, and while I feel their DSLR’s are great; the P&S line…eh, I feel Canon or Panasonic does a better job. What I would do is head to a store and physically hold one. Play with the menus and see how it feels in your hand.

The s630 does have a small flash, it’s right next to the Nikon logo on the front. Take a look at this web site, it lists all of the features:

compare and contrast cameras from the 1960’s to now?

I did a paragraph and I am completely confused on what to do….I dont have a topic sentence and my english teacher wants us to do this in paragraph…any suggestions???

Consider that most cameras from the 60’s are still in perfect working order today. I have cameras from the 60’s that still shoot just well as the day they rolled off the end of the production line, and most beat my DSLR in terms of image quality and resolution. In fact I have cameras from the 30’s that are in perfect working order and will be for many decades to come. Compare that to today’s modern cameras, packed with electronics and made from mostly plastic. Will they still be working in 50 years time?. Fat chance.

Back then cameras were built to last a lifetime, not just a few years.

What is the difference between these Canon PowerShot digital cameras?

I want a new digital camera, and Canon PowerShot was recommended to me. It’s for casual, vacation picture use.

What’s the difference between the Canon PowerShot SD1200-IS and the Canon PowerShot A1100-IS. The latter is cheaper, but will it be lower quality?

Canon PowerShot A1100is does not come with low quality. The difference is A1100 use AA batteries make it bulky
